The Irish Water Spaniel Association of Canada (IWSAC) was re-established as a national breed club in 1997.
The IWSAC has had members across Canada, the United States and
Europe and is becoming a robust organization capable of promoting the IWS and ensuring that the breed's many accomplishments are recognized.
The IWSAC was formed to share information about our wonderful breed and to support one another in our efforts to promote our dogs in particular and the breed in general to the dog community, to the public, and to potential pet owners. Our Association promotes the breed by sharing information about the breed and the breed standard, and by exhibiting our dogs in conformation, obedience, fieldwork, and other areas.
Members from across the country organize CKC sanctioned conformation matches and obedience trials. In 2003 the club hosted a National Specialty in Kingston, Ontario. This was the club's first,
followed in 2004 by a National Specialty in Alberta. 2008 is proving to be a busy year with 2 National
Specialties: one in BC in July and one in Montreal in November. Check out the IWSAC Events Page for information about these events.
